Scott Rozelle，斯坦福大学Helen C. Farnsworth讲席教授、浙江大学青山讲席教授。美国经济学会、美国农业经济学会、国际农业经济学家学会终身会士。主要研究发展经济学、农业经济学和资源环境经济学，重点关注教育、营养和儿童早期发展。先后在Nature、Science、American Economic Review、The Economic Journal等国际顶级期刊发表论文400余篇。曾荣获美国农业与应用经济学会终生成就奖，中国政府友谊奖（2008年），2019年荣获中共中央、国务院、中央军委颁发的纪念勋章。从上世纪八十年代起，他走访中国28个省和650个县进行了一系列调查和研究工作，将大半辈子的精力投入于中国农村研究。

内容提要：

In this talk I step back to look at China’s rural economy 40 years ago and then trace its path through today. The presentation will show how rural society has adapted to changes in the economy as well as documenting how rural China has contributed to the nation’s growth and transition. Special attention will examine the role of policy makers in facilitating the progress and overcoming the problems that were slowing growth in the countryside (and in migrant communities in China’s cities). Remaining challenges will also be discussed and the different ways that policies will be needed to continue to move rural China ahead and continue its support of China’s overall development.
